Police: Woman Killed in Ashburn After Driver Runs Red Light

A woman riding in a car in Ashburn, Virginia, just after Thanksgiving died after the driver of another car ran a red light, police said.

One woman was killed and six people were hurt after a car crash about 1:20 a.m. Friday at Gloucester Parkway and Loudoun County Parkway, Virginia State Police said.

Witnesses told police that a 2006 Ford pickup truck traveling north on Loudoun County Parkway failed to stop for a red light. The truck slammed into a 1997 Toyota sedan traveling west on Gloucester Parkway, police said. The Toyota reported had a green light.

The driver of the Toyota, Zabihullah Haiderian, 36, of Ashburn, and four passengers received injuries ranging from minor to serious and were taken to hospitals, police said. The fifth passenger, Maria Haiderian, 37, of Ashburn, was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where she died.

The driver of the pickup truck, Nakia P. Wilkerson, 39, of Culpeper, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. She was charged with failing to obey a traffic light.
