Police Seek Hit-And-Run Driver Who Killed Two Good Samaritans

Daughter remembers dad as her "best friend"

Two good Samaritans who stopped to help a vehicle on the side of the road were killed by a hit-and-run driver in August, according to police.

The crash occurred on Aug. 27 on Edmonston Road in Beltsville, Maryland, just before midnight, according to U.S. Park Police. Five vehicles were involved, and police said the hit-and-run driver is still on the loose.

The daughter of one of the victims said her father, Jorge Rios, 52, pulled over to help another vehicle that was having troubles on the side of Edmonston Road. As Rios and another person were assisting, a vehicle slammed into the scene.

Police said Rios and another person were killed. Nicole Rios said her father was an excellent carpenter and loved his family, animals, and motorcycles.

The crash occurred about 2.5 miles away from the home of Jorge Rios. His dog, Lucas, was with him at the time of the crash but was not injured.
