The Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office is seeking a man suspected of snatching two women's purses Thursday.
Four women, ages 29 to 38, were walking to their cars after dinner on the 800 block of Sophia Street when they split up into pairs. A man ran toward two of the women, pushed one to the ground and took both women's purses, authorities said.
The second pair of women heard yelling and chased after the man. They caught up to him and tried to hold him down, but he escaped.
The women chased him down a second time and were able to wrestle both purses away from the man. One woman was punched in the face twice during the struggle.
Officers searched the area but were unable to find the man.
He is described as a white male in his early-to-mid-20s and is between 5-feet-7-inches and 5-feet-10-inches tall. He was wearing a black tank top, khaki shorts and a black baseball cap turned backwards. The investigation is ongoing.
