Police Investigate Possible Link In Fredrick Co. Jogger Sex Assaults

Police are searching for a possible link between two sex assaults that occurred along a Maryland jogging path.

Two women, aged 50 and 37, were jogging at Walkersville Community Park in Frederick County April 6 when a stranger grabbed the younger woman from behind and tried to pull down her shorts. When the other woman came to her aid, the stranger attempted to assault her as well before she fought him off.

Police released a sketch of a man wanted in connection with those incidents, which prompted a 57-year-old woman to tell police she had been grabbed by a similar-looking man last November.

She says the attack occurred Nov. 10 while she was in the same park with her grandson. She said the suspect also grabbed her, but she was able to fight him off.

The perpetrator is described as a young, dark-complexioned black male, standing about 5'6 feet tall, weighing 150 pounds with a slim build, a short, even-cut haircut and little-to-no facial hair.

Police believe there is a possible witness to the April attack -- a young man known to ride his black colored bicycle around Walkersville.

Anyone with information regarding the man on the bike, the attacker or any further information about the assaults is encouraged to call the Maryland State Police at 301-600-4150 or Sgt. Rick Bachtell at 443-463-2164.
