Police Investigate Two Sexual Assaults in Bailey's Crossroads

Two women were sexually assaulted in separate incidents in the Bailey's Crossroads area of Fairfax County earlier this year, police said Wednesday.

According to police, a 28-year-old woman was shopping at the Ross in the 5800 block of Crossroads Center Way around 6 p.m. Jan. 31 when she was approached by a man. The victim told police the suspect was very friendly and spoke to her in Spanish. As she was leaving, the man pulled up in a silver Mercedes Benz and asked her to get in. Once she was inside the car, the suspect locked the doors, drove to a nearby location and sexually assaulted her. Authorities said the woman was able to escape the vehicle.

The suspect is described as a white male with black hair. He was last seen wearing eyeglasses, a dark jacket and white shirt. Police say the suspect may have approached other people.

Two days earlier, a woman was walking in front of the Bob's Furniture Store to a bus stop in the 5800 block of Leesburg Pike when she heard footsteps behind her around 6:30 a.m. Police said she was grabbed and assaulted but was able to flee.

The suspect in this case was described as being 5'8" tall and thin. He was last seen wearing a black mask, orange jacket and black hooded sweatshirt.

Police said the two sexual assaults were unrelated.
