Suspect Shot by Alexandria Officer After Pulling Gun: Police

Police in Alexandria, Virginia, say they shot and injured a suspect while responding to a call that shots had been fired in a residential area.

Alexandria Police Chief Mike Brown said Sunday night that numerous officers were investigating the report of shots fired when they encountered an individual with a firearm.

One officer confronted the suspect and gave commands for the suspect to stop, but the suspect turned and pointed the gun at the officer, Brown said.

The officer then fired their weapon, striking the suspect, according to Brown.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital.

Brown did not give details on the condition of the suspect.
