A body was found inside a room at a Motel 6 in Gaithersburg, Maryland, on Thursday.
According to police, the body had been at the motel on Quince Orchard Road there for several days and started to decompose.
People could smell the body from the parking lot, police said.
It's not clear how the person died. Police opened a death investigation as they work to identify the body.
