Police: 2 Children, Woman Found Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide

Two children and a woman were found dead inside a Herndon, Virginia, home Wednesday evening in an apparent double murder-suicide, police say.

A homeowner called 911 about 6:20 p.m. after finding the children who appeared to be shot, Fairfax County police said.

Officers searched the home in the 1000 block of Safa Street and also found a 42-year-old woman upstairs with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said Thursday.

Police said Wednesday night the deaths were "domestic-related" and there didn't appear to be any threat to the public.

Detectives are investigating what led up to the shooting.

A medical examiner was expected to do autopsies on Thursday, police said.

Police have not released their names or relationships because of a Virginia law that prohibits police from providing information about juvenile victims unless parental consent is given, the department said Thursday.
