Plane Violates No-Fly Zone Over DC

FAA is investigating the incident

Two F-16s scrambled into action Sunday morning when a small plane entered the no-fly zone over Washington, D.C.

A spokesperson from the North American Aerospace Defense Command said the F-16s intercepted a Piper P28B that violated DC's airspace at 8:26 a.m., and asked the pilot to change his frequency and talk to the Federal Aviation Administration tower.

The pilot then turned the plane south and landed in Roanoke, where the FAA is talking to the pilot and investigating the incident.

A spokesperson from the FAA said the incident does not seem like a threat.
