Pizza Delivery Man Carjacked in Tenleytown

Editor's note: A previous version of this story incorrectly reported the man who was carjacked delivers pizza for Domino's.

A pizza delivery man was carjacked near the Tenleytown Metro Station Thursday afternoon, officials say.

WTOP reports a man who delivers for Angelico pizza shop at 4529 Wisconsin Ave. NW was putting food and drinks in his car behind the restaurant about 1 p.m. He went inside to get more items to deliver, and when he came back out a man blocked his way to his car, jumped in and drove off.

No weapon was seen, and the victim was not hurt, according to police.

Police described the suspect as a Latino man with a bald head who stands about 5 feet 4 inches and is 25 to 30 years old. He was wearing a blue shirt and black pants.

American University, which is located nearby, sent students an email and text message calling the incident an armed carjacking.

The stolen car is a purple Toyota Corolla with the Maryland license plate 9CT3935. Anyone who sees the vehicle is asked to call police.
