Pit Bull Puppies Stolen at Gunpoint in Southeast DC

A gunman stole two 2-month-old pit bulls from a woman out walking them in Southeast D.C. Sunday.

Marquitta Bennett was walking the puppies, Rambo and Stone, on leashes in the 5100 block of Southern Avenue SE just after noon when a man approached her, showed her a gun and demanded she give him the puppies, police said.

"My whole mind frame was him actually pulling that trigger," Bennett said. "And I'm getting killed over some dogs."

She gave him the puppies and he fled toward Heath Street in Capitol Heights, Maryland.

Bennett and her sister have owned the dogs since they were four weeks old.

Bennett fears she will never get the puppies back. The breeder offered her two more dogs from the next litter, but she says they won't be able to replace Rambo and Stone.

"I cried all night because they was not here," she said.

The man was described as black with a dark complexion, in his 20s, 5-feet-5-inchs tall, 130-135 pounds with a skinny build and short hair. He was wearing a black puffy coat, black knit hat and black sweatpants.

Both puppies are male. One had a black collar, and the other had a blue collar.

Anyone with information about the case should call police at 202-727-9099 or text a tip to 50411.
