For the first time in 50 years, customers are seeing a change at the Philomont General Store post office in Loudoun County.
Postmaster Laura Pearson has retired, Leesburg Today first reported.
A celebration is planned for her Saturday at the firehouse next door.
Officials from the Postal Service will present her with a certificate and her 50 year pin.
Pearson plans to make some fix-ups around the house, spend time with her hobbies and do some traveling.
She's a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and is involved with those activities, such as fundraising for the volunteer fire department.
