Person Struck by Train; Orange, Blue, Silver Lines Returning to Regular Service

A woman was struck by a train at the Morgan Boulevard station, causing delays for Orange, Blue and Silver line passengers, Metro said.

The woman was taken to a hospital to treat non-life threatening injuries, Metro police said.

Train service is returning to normal. Blue Lines have since stopped single-tracking and Silver Lines are running regular service, Metro says.

The woman intentionally placed herself in the path of an arriving train, Metro said. Police and medics are on the scene.

The Blue Line trains are single tracking between Morgan Boulevard and Largo Town Center, Metro said. Some Blue Line trains may not stop at the Morgan Boulevard station.

To ease congestion, Silver Line trains only operated between Wiele-Reston East and Stadium-Armory stations. About 5:40 p.m., Metro announced Silver Line trains would run normally between Largo Town Center and Wiele-Reston East.

Authorities originally used a male pronoun to describe the person struck by the train.
