Man Set on Fire, Assaulted in Annandale: Police

Two suspects are in custody and police are searching for three more

A group of people set a man on fire and assaulted him Sunday outside an apartment building in Annandale, Virginia, police say.

A witness called police about 2:20 p.m. and said five or six young men were assaulting a man and lit him on fire, Fairfax County police said.

Police saw the suspects and chased them and two of the suspects are in custody, police said. Detectives were interviewing them. Police are searching for the three other suspects.

Officers taped off a grassy area outside a building in the 4500 block of Commons Drive. A backpack and other items appeared to be burned.

The victim was taken to a hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening, police said.
