Officials say a woman is dead after being hit by a car in Frederick County.
The Frederick County Sheriff's Office was called around 6:30 a.m. Sunday to the scene of the crash on Route 194 in the area of Route 550.
A female pedestrian was struck by a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta. The driver stopped to report the collision.
The pedestrian, identified as 30-year-old Sarah Lynn Ruhl of Woodsboro, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff's office said Ruhl was walking in the roadway and wearing dark clothing when she was struck during dark, foggy weather. The sheriff's office says excessive speed did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
