Outage Temporarily Knocked Out Power to Thousands in DC

Thousands of people were plunged into the dark late Monday night in parts of Northeast and Southeast D.C., but most had their power restored by early Tuesday.

Pepco reported multiple outages knocked out power to neighborhoods in Wards 5 and 6. Shortly before 10 p.m., 7,400 customers were without power. By early Tuesday morning, that number was below 300.

The outage temporarily suspended D.C. Streetcar service, but service has since been restored.

The cause of the outage is not known at this time.
