Orange & Blue Line Service Restored

The service has been restored on the two lines following a minor derailment Tuesday night

Metro service has been restored on the Blue and Orange Lines in time for Wednesday morning's commute.

Crews have successfully re-railed the wheels that came off their tracks Tuesday night. They worked through the night, making repairs and testing the track and switch equipment near the location of the incident.

On Tuesday evening, one set of wheels on the first car of a Franconia-Springfield-bound Blue Line train derailed at Rosslyn.

No injuries were reported, and all passengers were safely removed from the train within 10 minutes. Four of the six cars on the train had already reached the platform at the time of derailment.

Metro estimates there were about 1,000 passengers aboard the train.

Metro is still investigating what caused the incident.
