Police say the Fredericksburg man accused of shooting a neighbor is in custody following a 6-hour standoff with police.
Charges are currently pending against 50-year-old Michael Allen Bailey.
Officers were called to the scene of a shooting at the Commons at Cowan Boulevard in the 2300 block of Cowan Boulevard just before 9 p.m. Thursday. When they arrived, they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds outside of his apartment.
The 52-year-old victim is expected to be okay, investigators say.
Police say Bailey and the victim had known one another for about a year and a half and had many disputes prior to Thursday's shooting.
After shooting the victim, Bailey allegedly went back to his own apartment, where he was seen holding a gun and breaking out the windows of his home.
A tactical team, a crisis negotiating team and Virginia State troopers were called to the scene, and a line of communication was formed with the suspect.

Police say Bailey fired his weapon several more times inside and outside the apartment, which led to one Fredricksburg officer returning fire.
Nearly six hours later, Bailey surrendered to police. He was transported to Mary Washington Hospital for a minor injury he suffered during the incident.
Authorities say their investigation into the incident is ongoing.
