Man Killed, Several Injured in Partial Collapse Inside Virginia Food Warehouse

A man died in a partial collapse inside a refrigerated food warehouse in Virginia Tuesday afternoon, according to Prince William County Fire and EMS.

The body of 21-year-old Andy Yobani Joya-Rubio, of Manassas Park, was found in the Reinhart Foodservice warehouse in Manassas, about 30 miles west of Washington, D.C., firefighters said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other people were flown to hospitals with life-threatening or critical injuries. Three others also were taken to hospitals with less serious injuries.

A rack system used to store food in a 50,000-square-foot refrigerator system inside the 100,000-square-foot warehouse collapsed on several employees, Prince William County Police said. It's unclear what caused the collapse.

Investigators from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will join Prince William County Police and Prince William County Fire and EMS in conducting an investigation, police said.

Reinhart distributes food to restaurants, chains, schools, health-care facilities and the military.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for the victim. "Andy was married with a beautiful little girl and a baby girl on the way[;] he was just starting his own family," the page said.
