One person was killed in an early-morning crash involving a passenger car and a tractor-trailer in Carroll County.
Around 4 a.m. Friday, the tractor-trailer collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Route 27 and Kate Wagner/Chapel Road in Westminster, Maryland State Police said.
Both vehicles caught fire as a result of the crash.
The area around the crash was shut down and was expected to remain closed for much of Friday morning due to an extensive debris field that covers the entire intersection, police said.
State Highway Administration personnel have set up a detour.
Police are still in the process of identifying the victim and the other people involved the crash. They will release the victim's name after his or her family is notified.
Authorities are investigating the crash.
