U.S. Park Police officers are canvassing D.C. tattoo shops, hoping someone will help them identify a sex assault suspect with an unusual tattoo.
A young woman was walking by herself along the Georgetown waterfront around 8 p.m. April 1, when a man grabbed her from behind and forcefully took her through the area of the Capital Crescent Trail, police said.
The man then took her to Glover Archbold Park near Foxhall Road and Canal Road NW, where he sexually assaulted her. He then fled on foot toward Canal Road.
Authorities described the suspect as about six feet tall, 230-240 pounds, and with a tattoo on the back of his left hand depicting an "N" with stars down the center.
Detectives are also hoping local tattoo artists will help them identify who the artist is, or what the tattoo means.

Earlier this month, two women reported being inappropriately touched at Walkersville Community Park in Frederick County. A day later, a man grabbed a jogger and exposed himself to her on Custis Trail near Rosslyn.
Monday morning, a woman reported being sexually assault on the Sligo Creek jogging trail in Silver Spring.
