Officer Wounded, Suspect Dead after Police Chase

Authorities said a Baltimore County police officer was wounded and a male suspect killed during a high-speed chase.

Authorities said the incident began Saturday morning when Maryland State Police attempted to stop a green Honda Pilot that was speeding. State Police stopped their chase on the Beltway and issued a bulletin, and Baltimore County police pursued the vehicle again a short while later.

The chase ended at Route 702 and Hyde Park Road, where the suspect crashed into a silver sedan, then shot at police.

Police said the officer's injuries do not appear to be life-threatening and he is in fair condition. Police said  the round that struck the officer was stopped by a ballistic vest.

The male suspect, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
