Girl Gives Birth, Falsely Tells Police She Found Newborn: Police

A girl gave birth and then falsely told police she found a newborn baby on the back porch of her home in Hagerstown, Maryland, police said.

Police said the girl gave birth to a baby girl inside her home on Frederick Street. She called police and told them she found the infant outside in near-freezing weather -- wrapped in only a plastic bag.

When officers arrived, they found the baby on a couch inside the home.

The infant was flown to Children's National Medical Center in D.C., where she is in stable condition. The young mom also was taken to the hospital for treatment and was in good condition.

Police said no charges will be filed against the girl. Information on her age was not released immediately.
