New Security Seen at Metro

Federal grant beefs-up deterrance

Commuters who use Metro will notice added security in the coming weeks.

Thanks to a federal grant from the Department of Homeland Security, the transit system is adding a 20-member anti-terror team to increase surveillance and conduct random and unpredictable patrols of buses, trains and stations.

The group will operate as five, four-person teams.

Officials hope the addition will make the Metro system an unattractive target for terrorists.
