Nationals Hold Moment of Silence for News4's Jim Vance

The Washington Nationals honored News4's own Jim Vance with a moment of silence before Tuesday night's game against the Brewers.

Vance, who lost his battle with cancer Saturday, was a passionate fan of Washington sports. In 2014, Vance threw out the first pitch at a Nats game; he sailed it over the plate.

Vance called it "my moment!"

"I think I had the chance to meet him once or twice, just in passing, and he was a special guy," said Nats first baseman Ryan Zimmerman, who said he learned of Vance's death in a text from his wife, a Washington native. "He always had a quick one-liner. He's smart, man."

"Anytime you lose someone like that, it's tough," Zimmerman said. "Especially in a city like this, that always has news and always has breaking news, good or bad. There's so much of it here. And I feel like he delivered it with such grace."
