National Police Memorial Adds Name of 3 DC-Area Officers

Three Washington-area police officers who died in the line of duty are having their names added to National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.

Prince George's County Police Officer Jacai Colson was killed last year by friendly fire. Prince William County Police Officer Ashley Guindon was killed hours into her first shift as an officer last year. The name of Cpl. Harvey Snook of the Arlington County Police Department is being added after he died from cancer related to his work at the Pentagon following the Sept. 11 attacks.

WTOP-FM reports a total of 394 names are being added before National Police Week, which starts May 14. Steve Groeninger of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund says 143 officers died last year.
