Naked Man Seen Wandering Around Ashburn Area: Sheriff

Several people have reported seeing a naked man walking around the Ashburn area, the Loudoun Sheriff's Office said Sunday.

The most recent incident was reported at about 3:40 a.m. Sunday in the area of Ashburn Road and Louisa Drive. Police say a man wearing no clothes was seen wandering around the area. The man was seen about two miles away in the 43100 block of Hay Road an hour and a half later.

Authorities searched the area, but were not able to find the man.

On Thursday, two women who were running in the area of Golden Meadow Circle and Ashburn Farm Parkway told police that a naked man jumped out in front of them at about 9:30 p.m. One of the women reported having a similar encounter with the same man two days earlier. She did not call police after the first incident.

Similar incidents were reported by three people July 12. In all three cases, the victims reported seeing a naked man between 5:30 a.m. and 6 a.m. in the area of Golden Meadow Circle and Ashburn Farm Parkway and in the area of Claiborne Parkway and Wayside Circle.

One of the victims told police that she had a similar encounter with the same man three months ago.

The sheriff's office says while the man has not made any verbal or physical threats, residents should protect themselves when using area paths and trails.

Here are some things you can do to stay safe when using paths and trails:

  • Always stay alert and be aware of your surroundings (don't wear earphones)
  • Walk, run or bike with a partner or group
  • Let someone know your route and when you expect to return
  • Walk, run or bike when there is likely to be a higher volume of foot traffic.
  • Avoid using paths or trails when it is dark outside
  • Carry a cellphone
