Former Police Sergeant, Daughter Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide

Bodies found in SUV in Annandale

Fairfax County police officers are investigating what they believe is a murder-suicide in Annandale, Va.

A relative found 40-year-old John Jackson and his daughter, 13-year-old Alexis Jackson, of Falls Church, dead inside a black SUV  parked in Alexis's grandparents' driveway in the 3800 block of Forest Grove Drive after 1 a.m. Tuesday, News4's Pat Collins reported. The deaths appear to have occurred after midnight, police said.

Alexis's mother lived at the house, Collins reported.

A neighbor told Collins she heard three gunshots.

John Jackson was a former sergeant with Fairfax County police. After 16 years with the department, he left in June 2010. He also had a trash-hauling business with his brother, a Fairfax County police lieutenant.

The investigation is ongoing. The medical examiner will determine cause of death.
