Officials and parents at a Prince William County elementary school were taking precautions Friday afternoon after a mountain lion was spotted nearby.
Everyone is safe at Chris Yung Elementary School in Bristow, Virginia, but the school was placed on a secure-the-building status about 3:20 p.m. after the mountain lion was seen nearby, a spokeswoman said.
Teachers planned to walk students to their buses at dismissal time shortly before 4 p.m., she said.
Parents were asked to pick up their children if they usually walk to and from school.
School officials said any updates will be posted on the school's website.
