Multiple Accidents Reported as D.C. Gets Second Snow

Multiple accidents were reported across the D.C. area as cold temperatures caused the morning snow to stick to some roads and untreated surfaces.

Storm Team4 meteorologist Chuck Bell said below freezing road temperatures were to blame for the sticking snow. Accumulations between 1 and 3 inches have been reported. The snowfall should end around noon.

The inclement weather led several school systems to operate on a delay Wednesday morning, and caused three Virginia school districts -- Culpeper, Fauquier and Rappahannock -- to close.

But some school buses making the trip to school still had a rough commute. Four Prince William County school buses were involved in accidents Wednesday. The school system says all of the accidents were caused by other drivers. Three of the buses were transporting students at the time; no one was injured.

The afternoon brought a little sunshine and temperatures in the mid-30s.

Unfortunately, our cold pattern looks to continue well into our future.

The sun will return Thursday, but the cold will linger, especially Friday (11-16 degrees in the morning to 24-28 by the afternoon).

After a quiet weekend with highs in the 30s on Saturday and near 50 on Sunday, we'll reset and get ready for another storm Monday. At this time, it's too early to tell what that storm will bring. Storm Team 4 says it's looking like a moderate-sized storm, but it's still hard to tell if we will be on the warm side or cold side.
