A youth soccer coach sexually abused a 7-year-old girl, Montgomery County Police said.
On March 30, police received information that Miguel Alfredo Flores, head soccer coach for The Academia De Futbol Salvadorena, inappropriately touched a girl on his team in the summer of 2015.
Detectives later learned the 47-year-old Gaithersburg resident made sexual contact with the girl several times during practice that summer, police said. Investigators said they believe all of the incidents occurred in Centerway Park in Montgomery Village.
The girl told police her coach would slip his hand up under her shirt while the rest of the team ran laps.
Flores was taken into custody at the park Wednesday about 5:15 p.m. as he was coaching his team. He faces charges of sexual abuse of a minor and a third-degree sex offense.
Detectives urge any other victims of Flores or anyone who may have information to speak up to the Special Victims Investigations Division at 240-773-5400.
