MANASSAS, Va. -- The adoptive mother of a girl found dead in a Prince William County creek could face new charges now that a medical examiner has ruled the 13-year-old's death a homicide.
The medical examiner's report shows the cause of Alexis Glover's death was drowning and exposure to cold, Prince William County Commonwealth's Attorney Paul Ebert said Wednesday.
Glover's mother, Alfreedia Gregg-Glover, who told police that the girl had run away, has been charged with felony neglect and filing a false police report. Police accused Gregg-Glover of placing Alexis' body in the creek before calling police.
Further charges against Gregg-Glover are "likely."
