Ministry Serves Thanksgiving Feast to Homeless

Virginia ministry helps homeless, disadvantaged

Fellowship, food and fun. That's what's on the menu today at the New Hope Fellowship Church in Chantilly, Va. The non-profit ministry helps the homeless and disadvantaged.

"There are approximately 2,000 homeless folks in Fairfax County, and unfortunately about 500 of them are children," Pat Deavers said.

Every Thanksgiving, the ministry -- fueled by community donations -- sends a bus to area shelters to gather those in need and hook them up with a holiday feast. The include mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn and pie.

The all-day celebration includes a Thanksgiving service, movies and games.

Deavers expected close to 100 people to attend.
