Suspicious Package Near Metro Silver Line Deemed Safe

Before 9:15 p.m. Tuesday Metro Transit Police and Fairfax County Police deemed a suspicious package near the tracks between East Falls Church and McLean safe.

Silver Line service was suspended between East Falls Church and Tysons Corner for about an hour.

Shuttle buses ran between Tysons Corner, McLean and West Falls Church during the service suspension.

Late Tuesday morning Metro single-tracked between Medical Center and Friendship Heights for more than an hour due to a track problem.

The Blue, Orange and Silver lines were plagued by delays and closures Monday during the morning and evening commutes and again Monday night when a power outage forced those three lines and the Red Line to bypass Metro Center just as basketball fans were leaving the nearby Verizon Center.
