No worries for local partiers who want to get their New Year’s on far from home. Metro trains will run later than usual tonight.
Metrorail stations normally close at midnight on Thursdays, but they will stay open two hours later so partiers can ring the New Year all the way in -- and then some. Trains will run until 2 a.m.
Metro buses will also operate until 2 a.m.
And, not surprisingly, perhaps, Metro officials say ridership is normally light on New Year’s Day. For that reason, Metro stations will stay open only two hours past midnight on Friday, rather than the usual three.
Metrobus will operate on a Sunday schedule on New Year’s Day.
