Memorial Day Weekend Road Closures, Day-by-Day

Memorial Day weekend brings the last Rolling Thunder ride, two parades and many more events to the District.

Many motorcyclists will be on the D.C. roads this weekend, so pay extra attention when turning or changing lanes.

It's not only drivers who could face transportation headaches: Metro's summer shutdown of six Northern Virginia stations began Saturday.

Here are the road closures and parking restrictions you need to know about, according to the D.C. Police.

Sunday

The Rolling Thunder ride begins at noon. Several street closures are planned, but also expect unplanned closures around the National Mall and Arlington National Cemetery.

In addition to preparing for street closures, watch out for restricted parking signs.

Monday

The National Memorial Day Parade goes on Monday.

  • The following street are set to close from about noon to 5 p.m.
  • 14th Street between North Pennsylvania Avenue, NW to Independence Avenue, SW
  • Inbound I-395 (14th Street Bridge). All traffic will be sent eastbound on I-395 SW Freeway
  • 17th Street between New York Avenue, NW and Independence Avenue, SW
  • 19th Street between E Street, NW and Constitution Avenue, NW
  • Virginia Avenue, NW between 24th Street, NW and Constitution Avenue, NW

Be aware of emergency no parking zones from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in these areas:

  • 7th Street between Independence Avenue, SW and Constitution Avenue, NW
  • Constitution Avenue, NW from 6th Street to 14th Street, NW
  • Constitution Avenue, NW between 14h Street, NW and 23rd Street, NW
