Media Ban Sought in Sean Taylor Murder Trial Hearing

Suspect claims reporters could impede on fair trial

One of the men accused of killing former Redskins safety Sean Taylor wants the media barred from a key hearing in his case.

The attorney for Eric Rivera Jr. said allowing reporters into the hearing jeopardizes his client’s chances of having a fair trial. The hearing will deal with what evidence will be allowed in Rivera’s trial.

The judge in the case is expected to hear Rivera’s request for a media ban today.

Taylor was shot and killed in his Miami-area home in 2007. Rivera and four other people are accused of killing Taylor during a botched robbery. A trial is expected to start later this year.
