Md. State Police Search Bay for Missing Woman

51-year-old Robin Pope has been missing since Saturday morning

The search continues for a missing Queen Anne County woman.

Investigators say that Robin Pope, 51, of Stevensville, has been missing since early Saturday morning, when her disappearance was reported by her husband, Wayne Pope Jr.

He told authorities that the couple had been separated since December, and Robin Pope had been staying at a house owned by a female friend on Kent Island. He said that Robin had come to his home in the 100 block of Beach Road in Stevensville to pick up some belongings.

After his wife arrived, Wayne Pope said he left the home. When he returned at around 2 a.m. Saturday, he found Robin Pope's car parked in the driveway, but did not find her in the house.

In addition, Pope said that his dog, a Great Dane, was also missing. The dog was later found dead near a pier by the home, with what authorities described as "obvious trauma to the upper torso."

Investigators also found Robin Pope's keys, purse, credit cards and cash in her car.

A Maryland State Police dive team was planning to search the Chesapeake Bay for her body Sunday.

An investigation by Maryland State Police, Maryland Natural Resources Police, and Queen Anne County Sheriff's deputies is ongoing. Anyone with information about Robin Pope is asked to contact Maryland State Police at (410) 758-1101.
