Md. Couple Attacked, Injured by Pit Bull

A man and woman are severely injured after being attacked by a pit bull, according to Anne Arundel County police.

Officers were called to a Glen Burnie apartment about 5:30 p.m. Friday and found a 57-year-old woman in the entryway suffering from dog bites. As officers approached the woman, a pit bull ran from a landing and tried to attack the woman. Police distracted the animal, but when it tried to attack the officers, one stunned it with an electronic device, killing the dog.

Officers then found a 53-year-old man who also had dog bites. Both were taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore, where they were undergoing surgery, police said.

The victims' injuries are severe, but not life-threatening, officers said.

The victims were dog-sitting for one of their children, police said.
