Md. Burglary Suspect Fatally Shot After Ramming Police Cars

The suspect in a burglary was fatally shot by police after ramming several police car during a pursuit in Aberdeen, Md., Friday morning. 

Officers responding to a burglary call at a Target store in Aberdeen spotted the suspect fleeing from the store just before 2:30 a.m. Police say the suspect refused to stop and rammed his vehicle into a police cruiser, injuring the officer and disabling the vehicle.

Additional officers from the Aberdeen Police Department and Maryland State Police pursued the suspect in both directions on Interstate 95. The suspect rammed cruisers from both law enforcement agencies during the chase.

The pursuit ended on the southbound entrance ramp to the Maryland House rest area when officers fired at the suspect.

The suspect was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead. Police say he was the only person in the car.

The southbound ramp to the Maryland House rest area will be closed for several hours as police complete their investigation. Traffic on I-95S is not affected by the investigation.
