Maryland Teen Made Video of Himself Setting House on Fire: Fire Marshal

A 15-year-old Hagerstown boy used a cellphone to record video of himself setting fire to his bedroom, the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office said.

The boy told investigators he poured rubbing alcohol onto his dresser, set it on fire and then swiped the flaming liquid onto his bed, the fire marshal’s office said.

He then ran from the house, dropping his cellphone in the process, investigators said.

Nobody was hurt but the fire caused an estimated $5,000 in damage, according to the fire marshal’s office.

The boy was charged as a juvenile with first-degree malicious burning and malicious destruction of property.
