Maryland Man Sentenced to 45 Years for Killing Wife With Car

A Maryland man who pleaded guilty to first-degree murder after running over his wife was sentenced to 45 years in prison on Thursday.

Judge Amy J. Bragunier, who presided over the sentencing, called the case "a very sadistic act."

“I don’t think there’s any explanation. Sometimes there is just evil," Bragunier said.

Bryan Weyhenmeyer plead guilty two years ago to the 2014 death of his wife, 36-year-old Jennifer Weyhenmeyer.

Charles County officials at the time said that Jennifer Weyhenmeyer called 911 while she was in the car with Bryan Weyhenmeyer and told dispatchers her husband threatened her and was driving erratically. The call ended abruptly soon after.

Police found Jennifer Weyhenmeyer dead in the parking lot of a Pizza Hut in Waldorf 20 minutes later. They said she had been run over multiple times.

State’s Attorney Tony Covington called for accountability while addressing the court during the sentencing hearing.

"Where there is life, there is hope, there is opportunity," Covington said. "Jennifer has no opportunity, no hope, because she is dead at the hands of the defendant, and he must be held accountable."
