Maryland Man Pleads Guilty to Kidnapping Mother, Son

Woman jumped from car with child in her arms

A Jessup man has pleaded guilty to two counts of kidnapping stemming from a case in which a woman was carjacked with her 20-month-old son inside the vehicle.

The woman ended up jumping out of the moving car on the Capital Beltway in Bethesda with her son in her arms. Neither was seriously injured.

Terron White, 23, pleaded guilty Friday in Montgomery County Circuit Court. Prosecutors say they will seek a 40-year prison term. Sentencing was scheduled for Nov. 21.

The kidnapping was a “horrifying experience for the victim,” Elyssa Samuels, Montgomery County State's Attorney John McCarthy said. She and her son were kidnapped July 13, 2011, at a gas station in Baltimore and were driven to Bethesda before Samuels escaped and White was arrested.
