A Maryland man is accused of raping and robbing a woman he met on a dating app, police say.
Demitrious Harriott, 24, is facing charges of second-degree rape, robbery and assault, Montgomery County Police said in a statement Friday. Police say he and the victim met at a Silver Spring apartment building after exchanging messages on a dating app.
Harriott and the woman agreed to meet at a building in the 8500 block of 16th Street, where Harriott is known to frequently stay, police said.
The woman arrived about 2:30 a.m. Friday. Harriott then grabbed her and pushed her into a stairwell as they walked down a hallway together, police said. Investigators say Harriott sexually assaulted her and slammed her face into a concrete wall before stealing her phone and running away.
Harriott was arrested a few hours later. He was being held without bond.
