Maryland Man Beat Mother to Death With Rolling Pin, Police Say

Prince George's County Police have charged a Bowie, Maryland man with beating his mother to death with a rolling pin during an argument.

Charles Crockett, 22, repeatedly hit his mother, Roberta Susan Crockett, 55, in the head with a rolling pin on Sept. 6 on the 12800 block of Holiday Lane, police said. Investigators said a relative intervened, injured Charles Crockett with the rolling pin and restrained him until police arrived.

Roberta Crockett was taken to a hospital, where she died Wednesday. On Thursday, police charged Charles Crockett with first- and second-degree murder.

The man who tried to stop the assault was treated at a hospital and released.

Charles Crockett is being held without bail. Online court records do not list a lawyer for him.
