Maryland Homicide Victim Was Preparing for Fatherhood

A man found shot to death in his car in Accokeek, Maryland, Monday was preparing to be a dad.

Police identified the man as 28-year-old Timothy Sherod.

“He was expecting a child,” said his father, Henry Sherod. “The child was expected yesterday, the same day he got killed.”

Timothy Sherod was found shot to death on Mary’s View Road inside his Dodge car, which he used for his part-time job driving for Lyft.

He was not working at the time, police said.

“This is not a case of him operating as a Lyft driver,” Prince George’s County Police Cpl. Lamar Robinson said.

Timothy Sherod's body was found behind the wheel of the Dodge by a neighbor on her way to work Monday morning.

Police combed through video from the multitude of surveillance cameras in the well-kept neighborhood but are still working to find a motive and suspect.

He idolized his dad, went to work with him at Amtrak and took care of him when he got sick.

“All I want to know is who did this to my boy,” Henry Sherod said tearfully.
