Talk about adding insult to injury.
A Mitchells, Va., man whose vehicle collided with a passenger train has been slapped with $90 in traffic fines.
According to the Star-Exponent, Jonathan Weaver was ticketed with failure to stop at a railroad gate on Sept. 11, 2010.
A southbound Amtrak train hit the rear passenger side of Weaver’s truck.
Amazingly, Weaver was OK, spending only a couple days in a local hospital.
Weaver has some family history with this intersection. His grandmother, Myral Weaver, was struck and killed by a passenger train at the same location in March 1992, according to the newspaper.
The steep intersection has no safety arms or lights.
