Man Struck by Propeller After Jumping Off Boat

Natural Resources Police say a man was severely injured when he was struck by a boat's propeller in Ocean City.

The accident happened around 5 p.m. Monday in Isle of Wight Bay, The Daily Times of Salisbury reported. Natural Resources Police spokeswoman Candus Thomson says several friends were on a rented 22-foot pontoon boat.

Thomson says 26-year-old John Scott Hauf of Sykesville jumped off the bow of the boat and was hit by the propeller, suffering severe cuts to his shoulders, neck and head.

Police say his friends pulled Hauf aboard and took him to Bahia Marina. He was taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore.
