Man Angered by Tailgating Accused of Shooting Into Vehicle

A man is facing several charges after authorities say he fired three shots into a moving vehicle during a road rage incident in Stafford County, Virginia.

Oscar Martinez, 24, has been charged with attempted aggravated malicious wounding, shooting at a moving vehicle and other related offenses, the Stafford County Sheriff's Office said.

Martinez told investigators that he saw the victim tailgating him in the area of Route 1 and Corporate Drive. When the victim passed Martinez, he began tailgating them, the sheriff's office said.

The two vehicles were side-by-side when Martinez grabbed his gun and fired three shots into the victim's vehicle, authorities say. Martinez said he saw a gun in the victim's hand, but the sheriff's office said there was no evidence of a weapon in the victim's possession.

No one was injured in the incident.

After the shooting, Martinez and the other driver pulled over on the side of the road and flagged down deputies who were in the area.

Martinez was arrested and is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
