A Maryland man will spend the rest of his life behind bars for attacking and raping a woman on the Fourth of July in 2007.
According to Montgomery County State's Attorney John McCarthy, the woman was on her way to a neighborhood fireworks show when Miguel Morales-Iraheta attacked her, beat her and raped her until she managed to escape.
This sentence sends a strong message to rapists. Sexually assault some one in Montgomery Countyand you will do a long time behind bars," McCarthy said.
Morales-Iraheta faced two counts of first-degree rape and first-degree sexual offense.
